Rooooaaadddd Trip

We spent two days in Omaha celebrating spring break with a trip to the zoo. We hiked in the desert and the jungle, creeped through a swamp, had butterflies land on our arms, and walked under sharks. All on a snowy blustery day.

Jack trekking through the dessert dome. He made sure to point out every single scrawny bird. Because one of us is a tad afraid of birds. You know they could easily peck your eyes out.

Even Stanley enjoyed the zoo.

Three Months of Thanksgiving

Forgive me dear blog reader for leaving you in a world of perpetual Thanksgiving. Somehow in the midst of a very full schedule I got off track. But it was three months with much to be thankful for.

First of all, Erin wanted a fish. So she and I went fish shopping. We ended up with a beautiful blue beta that she named Alison. Alie for short. Erin even wore her fish dress for the occasion. She asked me "to go very slowly on the ride home and to be careful for people throwing rocks because she was thinking about her fish." Which she had carefully cradled in her lap. And I did. Life is too short. And there are fish to protect.

Another thing to be thankful for is our new soccer team. Uncle Johnny is now coaching 10 of the cutest 4 year olds ever. Erin is so proud. The kids are a scream.

Earlier this month I took a group from my church to visit the synagogue down the street. The Rabbi was an amazingly wise man. He graciously offered to show us the Torah. He encouraged us to learn our own faith story, and to remember what binds us together. The Torah above his shoulder came from a temple desecrated in the Holocaust.

We've had the worst winter in a century. Which has given us plenty of opportunities for snowmen and sledding. My hubby made this little guy for the little flat Stanley that Lauren sent us from her school. He's about a foot tall and stood on the rail of the deck.

I do have much to be thankful for, including patient blog readers!
