First of all, Erin wanted a fish. So she and I went fish shopping. We ended up with a beautiful blue beta that she named Alison. Alie for short. Erin even wore her fish dress for the occasion. She asked me "to go very slowly on the ride home and to be careful for people throwing rocks because she was thinking about her fish." Which she had carefully cradled in her lap. And I did. Life is too short. And there are fish to protect.
Another thing to be thankful for is our new soccer team. Uncle Johnny is now coaching 10 of the cutest 4 year olds ever. Erin is so proud. The kids are a scream.
Earlier this month I took a group from my church to visit the synagogue down the street. The Rabbi was an amazingly wise man. He graciously offered to show us the Torah. He encouraged us to learn our own faith story, and to remember what binds us together. The Torah above his shoulder came from a temple desecrated in the Holocaust.
